Poor Max. I guess you win some, you lose some. But he showed great character. (It seems a little ironic to me that this happened on his way in to take a physics exam!)
Bummer, that must have been some shocker of a phone call. These things happen, and no one was hurt, right? Don't despair, the insurance may cover it...it was an accident, not an act of vandalism...
What a decent kid you got there...honesty is the best policy...
So the last few days have been kinda stressful for ya LOL. A huge congratulations to Max on his "roles." He will have a fabulous time learning and interacting with the group.
As for the window - what "dumb (I can't use the word I really want ;-) luck that it happened to be him to actually break the window, but it sounds like the only "real" damage will be payment (maybe you will luck out on that too - things do seem to being his way right now).
Give him huge hugs and hopefully the window experience didn't get him off track for his physics exam.
