Assuming they are not being nasty or disrespectful, I'd guess it's probably normal...I haven't had that experience yet, in fact, my oldest just finished high school on Friday. I've seen him grow away from me over the past year or so, so I just try to take what I can get...steal moments over fixing him something to eat, or pop into his room when I know he doesn't have company. These things usually come full circle, she'll come back to you...

That's pretty much the way it was with my sons who are now 18 and 24. The older one got better at around age 20/21, and now communicates with us regularly even though we don't see him all that much.

I haven't had experience with one moving out before graduating from HS, so I can't comment on that.

When they get to college or out on their own, there's just so much new stuff they do kind of forget about us until they need something. The good news is that they do outgrow it.

I think it's normal, and she will come back around once she's older and gets a clue or two.

My DD (a college freshman) has been home from college since Dec. 19.

Unfortunately, what is normal is impossible to define.

I have to agree with the others, this isn't at all unusual at her age - my DSs did pretty much the same thing from the time they graduated hs (and even a little before) and they continued the "friends first" attitudes until they got to be about 21.
