dyk I grew up as a Methodist and was very involved on my own. Participated in church, youth group, choir, etc. with my parents only attending periodically. It was convenient since we lived across the street from the church.
dyk Phil was raised a Catholic and went to Catholic elementary and high school
dyk when we started having children we searched for a 'middle-of-the-road' religion. I didn't want to be involved in any community or groups thru the church and we figured that we could be anonymous if we brought the girls to Catholic religious classes. We felt that they should have some form of religious education and then could make their own decisions later in life. We dropped them off and picked them up from CCD for years and only went into the church when it was required.
dyk now that they have completed their 'religious educations', I feel just awful about it. It was the wrong decision. Plus, they really didn't get much information at our particular church. Even though I didn't have much religious support myself while growing up I have a much better base of knowledge than they received. They both saw their confirmation as the "end" of church for them when it should have been a beginning.
dyk I just have to find comfort in the fact that we raised them with good values and hope that this will weigh more in their lives than their lack of religion.

dyk other than the kids' matresses, pillow and blanket in their room
dyk our matress (all are on the floor) pillows and blanket, the glider rocker and Ellie's swing...
dyk this is all that's left to load from the house
dyk and the fridge - that's in the living room, too, actually just plugged in on the other side.
dyk and then we have the playscape, the garden, the trampoline, the BBQ and the kids bikes
dyk that's in the second truck load - and then we're DONE MOVING -
dyk and the unpacking begins....
DYK That's great, Jennie!
DYK Can't wait to hear that you're done, done, done with unpacking too!
