dyk my friend with the baby in the level 3 nicu (who got moved to a reg crib!! hooray! (he's off oxygen) was at the same service we were today
dyk it was great to see her out and about and looking well
dyk I told her and her DH (since even when Patrick comes home in a few weeks (he'll be almost 2 mos old) he won't be able to come to church due to higher risk of infection (he has an omphalocele - organs grew in a sac outside his abdomen)
dyk I told them I woud like to learn to care for him with the specific purpose of going to sit with him and care for him on Sundays so they can attend one of the services
dyk I just hope they don't choose the 8:30 service - haha!
dyk I'm gonna need a frozen white chocolate from the Hardback Cafe in order to make it through the rest of my day
dyk MIL asked what we had planned today -
dyk um, you're looking at it - we relax at home together on Sundays
dyk I think she's bored. Too bad. Ellie is asleep, the kids are watching a movie, it's quiet and the heat index outside is climbing - we're at 107 now.
dyk I am under a ceiling fan with iced tea and leftover chopped spinach and grape salad.
dyk, it is SO hard out there for recent grads...every person I've interviewed delayed their graduation for a year in hopes that the economy would be better. Most just took random classes, but a few did finish their Masters.
dyk, and most of the people I've interviewed were not accounting majors...they can't find anything in their field and they know that we pay well. If you are in an industry that has a more accounting/financial focus, even entry level jobs pay well. It's the accounting jobs that are more like accounts payable or the accounting department is a non-financial industry that are paying less. At least around here/places I know people.
dyk, the 8 new grads that we have starting in August are making $5K MORE than I made when I started and I started 4 years ago...and they are getting an additional $5K signing bonus.
dyk, no signing bonus for me
dyk, the one thing they HAVE cut down on is a lot of the financial support for getting your Masters/CPA. 4 years ago if you were part of a special program that got you your Masters & CPA in less than 2 years, the Big 4 would loan you living expense money for the first 3 months of the program, pay for your classes, and allow you to take a leave of absence (with a 2nd living expense loan) for the last 3 months of the program. Both living expense loans were forgiven if you stayed with the company for 3 years after completing the program.
dyk, and my intern's salary is based off of a yearly salary that was equal to my first yearly salary. He also got a signing bonus.

dyk and then today at church, this is typical MIL acting like a victim and all woe is me, okay, blah blah blah
dyk we were getting seated and she goes, (standing next to me in an EMPTY ROW where should I sit?
dyk and I jokingly said, "back there" and Sean sort of laughed - it was totally a joke
dyk and she all dejectedly said okay, and totally went and sat like 10 rows back
dyk Sean had to go get her and be like SHE WAS JOKING
dyk typical attention seeking, but it made me LOL what a dork.

dyk I've heard that because of that 3 year loan agreement most accounting firms are now letting people go after their second year
dyk it's because they have this inflow every year of new people so they only need to keep about 5% of the class
DYK Oh yay! I look forward to hearing what you think of the book!
DYK I must admit,
