dyk way behind (as usual) but have to share my news that I can't put on FB as of yet

dyk looks like I will be driving a Lincoln next week! :)

dyk after my van died, I didn't think I would have another car for a long time as i need to save the money and buy it outright..

dyk the dad of a work colleague heard the issue (from his son, the colleague) and offered to sell me his car, and I could simply pay month to month with post-dated chqs.

dyk they allowed the amount I can afford to pay per month (not a lot)and they are paying upfront to have the car safetied and e-tested!

dyk remember...this man doesn't know me and his son has worked with me for less than a year!

dyk I am completely blown away by their trust and generosity

dyk I cried when they made the offer...which made me feel silly, but they knew it was heartfelt..

dyk tomorrow i visit the car for the first time and also meet the dad and thank him in person

dyk next week i should have the car!!!!!!!!!!!!

dyk I know, easier said than done.

dyk I have been down that path with my parents. My brother never took school seriously, but my mom pressed on. He got his GED and then went to a college out of state. He dropped out within the first few months b/c he found the basic classes boring. He went for computer game design. I told my mom that was going to happen.

dyk I told her to let him fail. She wouldn't. So for years my parents supported him (and my other brothers families). Now, my dad is unemployed and they may lose their house. All that money that should have gone into their savings account.

dyk My brother lost his job while my dad was unemployed. My parents can't support him so he is doing surveying in the hot Texas heat. He finally realized what he has to do in order to survive at the age of 26.

dyk My SIL, her mom still supports her and my brother and their 2.5 kids (.5 b/c my niece only lives with them part time, she has a different mom). My SIL is in school but isn't taking it seriously. She doesn't want to stay at home with the kids and doesn't want to work. They are also on WIC and food stamps b/c they file their taxes separetly. Our tax dollars at work. Did I mention that my brother is older than me?

Thank you to Christina for my precious siggy!
