hi, i'm planning on starting the south beach tomorrow, and i was just wondering if the results in phase I are as dramatic if you only want to lose between 10-20 pounds? if you don't lose that much weight in the beginning, i just want to know now, so i don't get discouraged and stop. and is there anybody around who just wants to eat better and lose a few pounds who wants to be my buddy? i'm 24 and ready to REALLY get in shape, this time ;). thanks for the help!

I was wondering the same thing. I see that everyone is just talking on and on about what they have eaten and how they are starving and I see that people are in different phases but I haven't seen one person say that they have lost any weight in PHASE I. HAS ANYONE HERE LOST A POUND???? THAT IS WHAT I WANT TO SEE.

Thanks....

I did notice results in P1, though I didn't weigh myself before starting (too scared!) Within 2 weeks, I noticed that my jeans were much looser, and I could fit into older clothes that I hadn't been able to before. Overall, about 2" off my waist in P1 the first time. I'm detoxing again after the holiday excess!

The loss is noticable in my face, neck, arms, waist, butt, legs...just about everywhere but my size 11 feet! I'm 5'9" with about 45-50 lbs to lose, and I've found the way of eating that's going to get me there!

As for the other posts where everyone is "starving", there are lots of New Year's newbies out there. The traffic here has exploded since then and not everyone seems to have a solid understanding of the foundations of this plan. Many haven't read the book, and are doing the best they can with the info they've gotten online. This plan in no way limits the consumption of "foods to enjoy" and encourages everyone to eat until satisfied. Many aren't buying into that principle, but trying to count carbs, calories or fat grams. It's a really simple plan once you embrace it. Come on in and give it a try!

HTH!

I am following the book to a "T" - even the menus each day for Phase 1 and I am very hungry. I am constantly needing a snack but supposed to only have 2 a day according to the book. I don't - I eat when I am hungry - just keep it from the "good" list.

I am on day 6 and the scale has me down 3 lb. Of course I also started AF on day 1 so the end of that could also be causing the scale results.

Oh and I need to lose in the neighborhood of 25 lb so I am about average I think.

I also have in the neighborhood of 25 lbs I would like to disappear. Since I don't own a scale I have no idea if I have lost pounds. I think I am starting to see a difference in how my clothes fit. Has anyone noticed a big difference yet in how thier clothes fit? Today is day 7 for me.

I started SBD on 12/8 and I have lost 11 lbs. so far. I'm close to my goal so the weight loss has slowed down. But I have maintained the weight I've lost. And I'm eating so much better. Big plus! And more energy.

That's my story.

Yes, people loose weight on phase 1, and No you are not supposed to be hungry. I've been on the Beach for 4 months, and have lost 25 pounds. 8 in phase 1. The meal plans in the book are just suggestions. If you are starving eat a snack. If you are going through serious detox or have blood sugar issues this is probably the case. It's ok to eat more snacks if you need them. I am confident that eventually you will quit needing as many snacks. Does this help??

Just to give you some feedback. I started this in early November. The first week I lost 8 lbs. The second week I lost 2 lbs. I followed the guidelines pretty strictly. I have been steadily losing 1-1/2 lbs per week for a total of 17lbs.
