I'm starting Phase I tomorrow. Is anyone out there starting tomorrow too? Maybe we can buddy up and keep each other going... :)
I've been reading the message boards for a few days now (and the book too), so now I feel I have a good handle on what I will need to do. Thanks everyone very much for all your help thus far! I felt that I should start on a Monday, so here goes. :) I'm going grocery shopping for all the wonderful SBD-friendly food in a little while and making sure I get a few of those allowed sweet treats just in case!
A little about me - I'm 24, NY/NJ area. I have about 25 lbs to lose, which would bring me to a realistic weight for my height. Hopefully this diet will help, although I'm a little worried about being able to sustain this way of eating for a long period of time.
Everyone who's starting tomorrow - just respond so I know you're out there! A little info about yourself would be cool too. :) What's your meal plan like for tomorrow - I'm still thinking about mine.

So far so good! It's great to see quite a few people starting today, this way we can really follow each other's progress! I'm doing good so far, but haven't thought about dinner tonight yet...
I don't like the meals in the book either, but I think they are not the point of SBD. You're supposed to learn the general rules and then live your life applying those rules. The meal plans in the book are just suggestions. I wouldn't follow them either, I'd hate for someone to tell me what to eat on a specific day. The recipes might be helpful however to someone like me who doesn't have all that many recipes and years of cooking experience under her belt. So I tried the chicken saute last night (I started a little early LOL) just to see how it comes out - it was easy and tasted really good! My fiance even asked me if he is going to lose weight too just by eating whatever I cook. :) Too bad he doesn't have anything to lose...
Vicki - maybe your husband will want to participate in the diet with you? There are a lot of couples on the boards who are doing this together. You'll probably be more likely to last longer with him on board. And if he doesn't want to participate and be supportive, then go with your original motivation - PROVE HIM WRONG!!!!!!! :)
Also if you have any questions about the diet - look around the posts on this board or post the question in this section or the Chit Chat section and someone who is more experienced will answer the question for you. I'll try to help too the best that I can. But I'm just a rookie. :)
Good luck to all!!!!!!!!! Be careful around the mid afternoon. I don't know about you but that's when I usually carve vending machine goodies. ;)

So far it is going well...I haven't had severe cravings...I have a veggie omelete for breakfast and grilled chicken salad for lunch...I typically do not have salad for lunch so I didn't know that I should have told them 'no croutons'when I ordered. So half my lunchtime was spent picking the croutons out of the salad...hmmm should I count that as excercise :). I will be making curried chicken for dinner...just no rice for me...still trying to figure out what to have with it that wont leave me craving for carbs.
Are there veggies that are traditionally cooked in Jamaican/Caribbean cuisine? Maybe you can have those instead of rice... Just a thought. :) Also keep in mind that you're only going rice-less for two weeks. There is light at the end of the tunnel!!!!!!!! In phase II you can eat nice healthy brown rice.
P.S. I'm in awe of all of you ladies with kids! I don't know if I'd be able to do this if all the while I was feeding my kids with all sorts of carbs they refuse to live without. :)
We tend to eat alot of starch... starchy vegetables - like yams, potatoes etc. I think tonight I'll have some pumpkin(boiled)with some califlower and brocolli to accompany my curried chicken.

Having to feed children/husband does pose an added challenge...But I'm up for it!!!!:D

I think we can do anything if we make it a challenge! I have a fiance to feed, but no kids yet :). At least he can understand why I can't eat certain things! And hopefully I can trust him to eat extra yummy desserts when I'm not home... We'll see how that goes. :)
And yea, I forgot about all those starchy vegetables... Broccoli sounds nice. I hate califlower... How about also mushrooms? Peppers? Also green beens will probably go well with curry sauces. And spinach. I'm not the biggest fan of veggies myself...
Here's to discovery of new healthier foods!

I have quite a bit to lose... at least 100 lbs. If there's anyone that has A LOT to lose and would like to email, I'd love it. You can reach me at TNTLevea@aol.com.
