I am on day 8, ph 1, and I GAINED 3 pounds. I haven't even looked at carbs. Is SB not going to work for me and I should go back to WW? Help!

Hmmm... Why don't you give us an example of your daily menu and maybe that will help us better understand where the problem is. Don't give up, I'm sure there is a reasonable explaination. Maybe you're eating too many fats? Not drinking enough water?

I agree that you should give us a sample of what you are eating because it's possible you are doing something wrong and not even knowing it.

You might be retenting water are you eatting things that have lot of sodium. You must watch the labels for salt content. Another possibility, maybe your going to get a visit from TOM.Don't go back to WW( they don't separate the good carbs and good fat from the bad) I was there and the South Beach is the only diet or WOE that is good and healthy. Give it another week and see if it really was water retention. An old trick from WW is to fush water out with drinking more water.Thats the only rule I still follow. Good luck Maryann

I reallized I started Phase 1 right before my period when I get very bloated. 2-3 pound gain is normal for me.

You also might take into account how much exercise you are getting. If you are lifting weights or gaining any muscle weight that will make a difference. Though it might look like you arent loosing, you could very well be losing fat but gaining muscle which weighs more.

I always recommend getting a seamstress measuring tape and measuring for an accurate view of the changes in your body. I generally measure my bust, waist, hips, thigh, and upper arm once a week. And on those weeks when i dont lose, or gain, I can see can get a better idea of what kind of weight gain it is.
