First Day--Sort Of

Hi--This is my "First Official Day." I'm really excited. It sounds great! I've tried them all, just like so many of you have. My big problem is I have one cup of coffee every day, and I HAVE to have my Half & Half--the Regular kind. I have about three quarts of it. My question is, will it really kill my diet if I use the regular half & half? I know it sounds silly, but I hate the fat free kind.

Hi Sue,

You mean that you drink ONE cup of coffee per day and want just one splash of half and half in that one cup?

Hi--Thanks y'all. I do only drink one cup. I guess I will get the FF, mix it with the regular and start "liking it!"

You know they say that if you try something 5 times you will eventually like it.

Mel, you're officially my inspiration! I HATE diet coke/pepsi etc. But I know that I will be craving my vanilla coke when I start school again. So it makes me feel better to know that if I force-try it a few times, I might actually like it. :)

Maggie,

no I haven't tried Diet Vanilla - I haven't been tempted just yet sicne I've been on SBD (three days). But soon I'm sure. :) I've tried plain diet coke and can't stand it. Maybe diet vanilla will be better, even if only b/c I LOOOOOOOOOOVE Vanilla coke. :) Thanks for the sugegstion. Will try next time I crave it.

Also sparkling flavored water is pretty good. :)

speaking of coffee...is it bad to have two cups a day? before the diet i was regularly drinking two cups (one in the am and on around 4 oclock) with ample half and half. i have switched to FF but around 3ocloclk/4ish i get really tired and need a sugar fix and i find that coffee with sugar substitue will satisfy my sweet tooth. there is no decaf at my office and i can't really leave to get any. i work at an office that provides the food and it is someones job to make the coffee and hse only makes decaf in the morning because the demand isn';t high enough for it later on.

Hi "lehcar",

I just wanted to post to you to let you know that it is possible to drink that much coffee and lose. I do. I wouldn't encourage it, and definitely think if you can give it up, all the better. But the truth is is that I have 2-3 cups of coffee per morning, and occasionally will have one in the afternoon, and/or a diet coke in the afternoon/evening.

So I'm definitely a case of "do as I say, not as I do". But for me, this is a big cut-back to how much I consumed before. Really! I'm sure I'd have lost more weight by now if I were not having this much. But as Mel says, "you choose what you choose".

My advice is don't have it alone. Caffeine raises blood sugar, so treat it like a carb snack. Have some cheese, ham, etc. with it.
