I believe refried beans are made with pinto beans which are off limits in phase 1, but okay on phase 2. (I know, I love them too! lol) That is unless they changed it recently. I havent seen the newest list
Well, that's too bad-- I love them! I'm thinking though that I may try to make my own, but with black beans. It seems like you could put canned black beans in the Cuisinart with some seasonings and they'd turn out kind of refried-ish. Thanks for the help!
Some major grocery chains also carry refried black beans (fat free). Love'em. I actually prefer them to the regular ones. I second the Trader Joe's note. If you're lucky enough to have a Trader Joe's (my favorite) or a Wild Oats, take advantage for things like the refried black beans. They also tend to carry lots of whole wheat pasta and great low sugar whole wheat blueberry muffins (they look scary but are great).
For those who haven't been, TJ's is much cheaper than my regular grocery store for many items including frozen fruit and veggies.

They are for Phase 2, because they are mashed-up pinto beans.
(Trader Joes has black beans w/ jalepenos) so good!

Fat Free canned refried beans are an allowed SBD food.
