Tomorrow night my BF (who is also on SBD) are going out for Japanese food per our usual friday night ritual. I do not eat fish and in the past this has never been a problem since there are many dishes (vegetarian sushi, chicken/beef terriyaki, udon, etc.). Anyway he plans on getting shashmi and discarding the rice. What would be my best option or should we go to a place that has chinese as well so i csn get something steamed?

You can ask at the restaurant if they have the alternative of brown rice.

Dining out in Asian restaurants is probably not the easiest place to find an SBD-friendly meal, especially for Phase 1.

Miso soup & seaweed salad are my favorites and okay on phase 1.

Nope, just seaweed and sesame seeds, and a splash of rice vinegar.

At our favorite Jap restaurant, they always serve 4 shrimp as an appetizer.

I always just order the veggie dish/special, b/c I can't eat all that meat or eat just a little off of DH's plate!

In addition to the seaweed salad, which is great (may have sweetened dressing though), I'd suggest some meat skewers (spelling?). My favorite sushi joint does full-service Japanese and has these fantastic skewers of scallops or beef or chicken that they cook on the grill. You could get those w/out any sauce.
