Need a buddy - on day 3 of phase I
| Thu, 01-22-2004 - 4:15pm |
I am searching for a buddy. I am on day 3 of Phase 1. I am 30 years old, single, no children and I work full-time. I eat out quite often (I haven't yet since starting this WOE though) and I usually drink beer 2-3 nights/week (giving that up will probably be my biggest challenge).
I am very excited about starting this WOE!
I am currently at 161 lbs and I want to get to 135 lbs... and fast!

Hi there!
Susan :)
I am on day 4 of phase 1 also!
I am 39, married with kids, work almost full-time and have a gym membership, which helps.
Today I am 161 and want to get to 140 by my 40th birthday this summer, so we have very similar goals.
A little history on my weight thing: 2 years ago I was about 190 so I did pretty good with an Atkins type thing in 2002 but I have stayed at 163 or so for 1 full year. Now I'm ready to get the rest off, for good.
South Beach is a kinder, gentler low-carb thing than Atkins. This phase is WAY easier than Atkins phase 1.

Thanks for your reply! I also tried Herbalife -- it was about 3 years ago. I did lose weight, but I hated taking all those pills too! Ugh!
I am really liking this WOE. I feel like I may have been eating too much on my first couple of days to compensate for the nasty candy cravings I was having, but I think that is better than giving into those cravings! Now I am on day 4 and I think the cravings are subsiding. I actually walked past a full candy dish this morning & didn't have to will myself to keep walking. So, that is an accomplishment for me.
This will be my first weekend & I am hoping to not have any problems sticking with it. I am going out tonight and all my friends will be having a few cocktails. I know it will be a challenge to not join them, but I know I can do it!
Good luck!

I think I may be eating too much too! I also have a sweet tooth, not so much for chocolate but for candy, mostly tart ones. Congratulations on walking past that candy dish by the way! I've felt a couple hunger pangs for some bread or chips, but nothing serious. I think if I was on a more restricted diet where you couldn't eat that much, I probably would've caved in. I am now on Day 5 and feeling good. I haven't really lost any real lbs yet, just a little water weight. Have you?
How was cocktail night? One thing you could do is order a V8, or Bloody Mary without alcohol (although I'm not sure what's actually in one, I know it's V8). I am hoping my friends or co-workers will not want to go for cocktails for at least the next week and a half.
Have a great weekend and good luck!! I will talk to you soon!
I lost about 22 lbs on Weight Watchers, then hurt my back and it was a slippery slope downhill. I tried several times, but just couldn't get back into it. Doing SBD is drastic in comparison, but have felt well and had no problem passing carbs up. I'm on day 6. Good luck, Judy- cooljudet@yahoo.com
