I'm on day 4, almost day 5 and I'm just tired of everything. It's ok in the AM but by afternoon I'm feeling really sick of eating what I have. I guess I must miss carbs or something cause after I eat I'm fine but right before I eat I'm feeling like I wanna eat junk! I guess my blood sugar hasn't evened out yet. Or I'm stressed and wanna eat junk. Or maybe I'm going too long without eating??? Just venting here! But what's your advice for me???

Hi Rachel,

Welcome to the board. I went thru some of the same things you are going thru. It took me a few days to get use to it but I did have some cheat days but got right back on the wagon. Give yourself a break. You can do this.

I'm right where you are Rachel! Day 5 now, and I'm REALLY getting tired of veggies. I've always liked almost all vegetables, but I guess it's the lack of carbs I miss - sandwiches, dinner side dishes, desserts.

But I've already lost 8 pounds and that is SO motivational! I almost cracked last night and had some cookies, but somehow I toughed it out. That is so unlike me, cause usually I have no will power.

I think you have to get rid of the mindset of "this food." This way of eating is going to HAVE to become a way of life, not so extreme in the future however, in order to maintain the weight we lose.

I'll tell you though, someday I'm going to have to have a Cinnabon!

I know exactly how you feel. I was wondering if anyone had any different recipes that would work with this diet. I've gone back to just drinking a protein shake in the morning, with only 3 carbs and 1 gram sugar. Sometimes a salad for lunch. For dinner I need some new recipes, but until then I've been grilling chicken, salmon or pork tenderloin. I feel I may stray from this if I don't come up with some new ideas for this. I was faithful the first week, but I didn't care much for the recipes. But!!!! I did lose 8 pounds the first week. So, that's why I'm still hanging in there. Maybe we could start a thread for some SBD recipes that have worked for others! Good luck!

The same thing happened to me, right around day 6 or so. Try and remember to snack during the day - it helps. And I'll admit, I did give myself a cheat day on day 8. I'm extended phase 1 by a day because of it, but it was worth it.

good luck - you'll make it!

I once read that there are two types of people- those who like to eat the same things over and over and people who crave variety in their foods. People who like fast foods like them because they are always the same- that's me! I'm the type of person who can eat the same foods day after day and so the diet becomes easy, although I have to make a special effort for variety nutrition wise. So we're all different in our tastes. It may be that if you like variety, you could spend some time this weekend trying some new recipes and freezing them for the weekdays. Just an idea. I always do better when I plan way ahead.

Rachel and all,

There used to be a LOT of posts with recipes that originated on Hippodamia (www.hippodamia.com), but I don't see any of them floating around right now. Check it out, it's a whole website library dedicated to SBD, sorted by phase. Check out the Zucchini Crust pizza, one of my Phase 1 favorites!

Good luck!

Shan

Edited to say: I forgot about www.recipezaar.com too. If you're not a member, sign up. It's free, they have a HUGE recipe library, and you can sort by ingredients (they even have low-carb categories).
