Hello everyone!

Im looking for food ideas as I begin to get serious on this diet- no cheating. I know other threads are similar to this but the shopping lists are mixed with the different phases.

Susan,

Thank you for those links... they are very helpful! I read about the cocktail sauce/ketchups before and totally forgot about all the sugar! Thanks for reminding me. Im still a little unclear about LOWFAT (not fatfree) sour cream and FATFREE Philly cream cheese. They dont sound like they are a good idea, but I would love to have them in small quantities for veggie dips. Thanks for all your help.

I don't know all that much about the allowed foods yet, and my diet has been fairly limited the last couple days because of it, so I won't go there.

I would suggest stocking up on garbanzos (aka - chickpeas) for several reasons. They make great filler on salad, roasted they are better than chips, hummus is wonderful as a veggie dip or celery filling. Lentils are also a real lifesaver for me. If you don't like beans, then don't buy a ton of them at once, but do try them in different things if you are up to it.

In case you're wondering, I loved chickpeas even before this woe. I just didn't know how to use them.

here's what the food list says:

CHEESE (FAT-FREE OR LOW-FAT)

  • American

  • Cheddar

  • Cottage cheese, 1-2% or fat-free

  • Cream cheese substitute, dairy-free

  • Feta

  • Mozzarella

  • Parmesan

  • Provolone

  • Ricotta

  • String

MILK/DAIRY

  • Low-fat (fat-free and 1%)

  • Soy milk

  • Yogurt (low-fat or fat-free plain or vanilla light/lite only)

----------------------------------

If you really MUST have real cream cheese (I'm thinking the substitutes is lite Laughing cow?) I would suggest using fatfree or low fat and not having too much.
