Phase 2: Scared To Add Carbs!

Hi everyone. I am on Phase 2 (since Tuesday) and I am totally scared to add the good carbs back into my diet. I am worried that as a result I am eating more than I was on Phase 1 (for example, I've been having 2 snacks after dinner: strawberries & peanut butter and then the ricotta dessert). Is anyone else scared to add the carbs and if so, what are you doing? I am really worried that I'm screwing up my metabolism! Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

I know how you feel about adding in the carbs. I was really scared at first too. Since starting SBD I've invested in a food and exercise journal. I write down everything I ate and how it made me feel. I started a phase 2 lite. I would add back one or two new allowable foods a day. I made sure my portions sizes were good. I did feel hungrier the first few days of phase 2 but I'm not sure if I was just so excited to have different foods. I wouldn't worry to much about the hunger. After a while, most members notice that our hunger level actually decreases. Just make sure to eat the right foods in the right amounts and it shouldn't affect your progress.

The journal is a good idea because it gives you an idea of you like or don't like and also what your trigger foods might be. Sugar in any form is my trigger. Fruits don't satisfy me as much as veggies do. I'm usually hungry right after eating fruit. I still enjoy them as a snack. But if I'm really hungry and want something to satisfy my hunger I always choose veggies first. For some people starches are their trigger. Even brown rice or whole wheat pasta might trigger some people. So just start slow and pay attention to what your adding and how it makes your feel. You'll be fine. I hope this helped a little.

When I first started on phase 2 I just had carbs when it seemed a special treat... like homemade 7-grain
