Hi guys! I'm new to the South Beach Diet and yet to buy the book. I'm starting on Saturday because if I don't feel good from changing my diet than DH is home and he can take care of DD while I work through it. I still need to buy the book as mentioned above and stock up on the foods that are allowed and get rid of some that are not as good.

This seems like a terrific place for support, so I'm hoping to get my friend to join this group too. DH and I are huge pasta lovers, so this will be difficult at first for us. I know I can do it and there's a lot of weight to be lost, so I'm ready.

Tomorrow I'm going grocery shopping for several items that are on the list. Do you have to follow menu plans or can you make your own things from the list?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Tammy

Can't wait to start...really!

Hello!!

I just finished my fourth day of phase 1 and I can tell you that I feel great!!! I borrowed the SBD book from a friend, read it, then got on this message board and looked at all the recipes that I could have the first 2 weeks. Look at the Phase 1 and Recipe message boards. You will find TONS of info on these. Good Luck!! You can do this... You will feel sooo much better..

Hi Tammy,

I'm somewhat of a newcomer too. I started Phase 1 four days ago, and have lost 4 pounds already, but more important, my energy level has skyrocketed!!

I just went to the store yesterday and spent a lot of money and a lot of time, but I think the key is to have plenty of the foods available in your home, that way you're not tempted to order that pizza or open a can of something. The food lists and recipes were extremely helpful to me located on this Site. I plan my meals on what I like to eat, using the guidelines, of course. I made football chili, zesty chicken, egg quiches, and jello fluff, and they've all been great. My kids will even eat this. The key for me is to be prepared, fix as much as you can ahead of time, and plan meals. Good luck and welcome!

Hey mothertolana (I love the name Lana). I am new here too. Going to start SBD Monday. Been trying to get everything ready, just as you. I somehow through this board found another great site for the SBD - www.mizfrogspad.com/south_beach_diet.htm - it looks really cool. Haven't had time this AM to go thru it all the way, yet. It may help you. Also, found in my local Food Lion a paperback book (the ones at the checkout counter) a book put out by PreventionGuide Weight Loss ALL about the SBD. May want to see if you can get it while you are out in the morning. Good Luck to you. Let's make a date to meet back here next week to see how each other is doing!!! :)

Thanks Janice!

It sounds like already on day 4 you're starting to feel great. I can't wait to get to that point. Now I feel sluggish and out of breath a lot when I go up stairs.

Thanks for the support and can't wait to get to know you better. It's good to have support from those that have BTDT.

Maggie,

Thanks for the support and the answer to my question on menu planning. I'll have to mix some of the things they have in the menu and make the other parts on my own from the list.

I know with the super bowl it's a bad weekend to start, but the idea is to start eating right as soon as you can. I really do need to detox my system out of this fatty rich food I've been eating. I may be coming here this weekend just to get away from the food situation. My DH agreed to go on this with me, but won't give up his beer and fat food on Sunday. OH well... I'll just have some veggies pre cut and have a cheese stick ready to snack on.

Thanks again,

Tammy

Karen,

Thanks for sharing your success with me thus far. It's exciting to see everyone doing so well and feeling the difference. I can hear it in your post of your newfound energy!

I know that eating healthy is expensive, but if it gives us a better quality life then it's worth it. I can't wait to shop today for all those wonderful foods. Right now, I'm cleaning out most things that are bad carbs from our kitchen. Then I can go shopping.

The egg quiches and jello fluff sounds wonderful and are things the whole family would eat. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for new recipes.

Keep up the success your having and continue to feel great. I can't wait to feel that too. I'm hoping after the weekend I'll feel better and be used to the change in diet.

Renea,

Thanks for the welcome and a welcome to you too. The enthusiasm in your post shows you are geared up and ready to go. Thanks for the link, I'll have to look there when I get the chance. I'm cleaning out cupboards and the refrigerator right now and I'll go shopping when DH gets home. I can't wait to fill our house with food that will taste good and will help me feel good also.

I'll see you in a week and we'll have to report how we feel.

Tammy
