I guess I'm kind of confused about this because I've heard that some people are eating it, but I thought we were restricted on things like tomatos or whatnot. Tell me if I'm being totally clueless; I would sure love some chili!

I had a lot of chili during my first two weeks. Either by it's self with cheese on top or on a bed of veggies. Taco salad without the taco. Now when I make a crock pot of it, I freeze half for another time. It's really good. I used the Turkey Chili recipe someone put on the board. It's really easy to make.

Good Luck!

Thank you Susan! That recipe looks good, I'm going to try it! I am so excited about this. My Dh has been quite unhappy with the food choices in the book. Hopefully this will help us through the 2 weeks!~ Karen

About tomatoes ---

I love them! I don't think I could have done without fruit AND tomatoes for 2 weeks. But I did read somewhere in the book that he doesn't recommend you exceed one tomato per meal. Now, as far as chili goes ---- well one tomato goes a long way -- so I would assume all chili or soups with tomato in them would be well within the limits.

I loved the broiled tomatoes. Cut one in half, top with a little squirt of Can't Believe it's not Butter spray, salt & pepper, parmesan cheese and parsley. Broil until soft and cheese begins to brown. I could eat a whole plate of these if allowed!

anyways, thought I'd share for what it's worth (?)

Speaking of chili, what kind of beans can we have in phase 1? When my dad makes chili, he uses ground beef (I'm going to sub ground turkey breast, or ground sirloin), dark kidney beans, light kidney beans, northern beans, baby lima beans and green beans. I think he uses a can of pork and beans too, but I'll take that out because I know I can't have that. Maybe I'll add some black beans. Is there a bean limit? lol.

On my list of allowable beans in Phase I, I have: green beans, italian beans, wax beans, black beans, butter beans, chickpeas or garbanzo, pigeon peas, soy beans, split peas, kidney beans, lentils, and lima beans.
