Hi Chris, it was nice meeting you in our live chat last night! You were asking about nuts and portions. Here's the info you were looking for!
Nuts, Nuts, and Even More Nuts
Nuts are a healthy snack, yet not all nuts are created equal. Here are the suggested serving sizes for everyone's favorite nuts:
- Almonds - 15 whole (dry-roasted recommended)
- Brazil nuts - 4 whole
- Cashews - 15 whole (dry-roasted recommended}
- Pecans - 15 whole (dry-roasted recommended}
- Macadamia - 8 whole (dry-roasted recommended)}
- Natural peanut butter, chunky or smooth - 2 tablespoons
- Other natural nut butters - 2 tablespoons
- Peanuts - 20 small (may use dry-roasted or boiled)
- Pine nuts (Pignoli) - 1 ounce
- Pistachios - 30 whole (dry-roasted recommended}
- Walnuts - 15 whole (dry-roasted recommended)
If nuts aren't your thing, then try a snack of up to 3 tablespoons of toasted flax seed, or up to 1 ounce of sunflower or pumpkin seeds.

My main question was the fruits we are allowed and I was clear when the chat was over. so today when I went to weigh it was a pound less than the day before. i have been reverting bk to the ph 1 breakfast instead of cereal,that might have been what was slowing me down,not too sure.. Also the advice on the carb limit a day helped too! will keep a watch on my intake and drink more water to see if that helps also.
thanks,
christi
Hi Maggie! I was asking about the nuts at chat last night. And thank you again for a wonderful chat!
I've seen the list that you posted before, but I was wondering why some lists have a different number of nuts. Specifically, check out http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-fbsouthbeach&msg=3881.2
