Hungry!

My husband and I started Phase 1 last Monday (one day five). I'm doing fine hunger wise (less to loose maybe?) but my husband is having a hard time (30lbs to loose). I keep telling him to eat if he is hungry, but he says he is doing ok. I think he is so used to snack foods, that the "healthy" foods don't appeal to him. I know that hunger can be the biggest source of failure. Any advice?

Does he like the meals he is eating?

Thanks Susan! I know that this is a lifestyle change... and change can be hard (especially in the first week). Thanks for the info.

For me, there seems to be a difference between being just hungry and "craving". Being hungry means I just need to eat more SBD friendly foods, cravings mean I'm not so much hungry, I just want some higher glycemic carbs. In the first week, you may be having cravings which should go away next week. I found it like this- couldn't even look at high carb foods during the first week, second week, I could look at them but maintain control, now after the third and fourth week, a parade could go by and I wouldn't notice. I love how this diet gives you normal hunger that is completely satisfied by the snacks and meals. Willpower is a chemical reaction to the right foods, not something you have to instill in yourself.

Have him snack on some nuts-almonds, pistachios. That might do the trick-sometimes people like something to keep the hands entertained while watching TV. Also the sugar-free pops are perfect and will keep him busy as well. And you can't go wrong with some celery and light creamcheese or string cheese to help with the munchies.
