Quick question is the ricotta desserts that are found in the SBD book considred part of the 75 calories alloted for sweets throughout the day? I was under the impression that it was a protein and although you should limit the amt each day, it didn't count as a sweet

since splenda is used

I'm so confused!

unless i'm mistaken the ricotta cheese desserts DO NOT count as a part of 75 calories of goodies. unless, of course you put something in it that you're not allowed. i put unsweetened cocoa and i package of splenda, and it's YUMMY!!!

On your suggestion, I tried the ricotta, cocoa, and sweetener mix. It is very yummy(!) and satisfied not only my craving for chocolate, but also made me feel full. I had another serving later after supper. So I'm with you on the question of how much it counts as a sweet. And I hope someone who can answer this will tell me if two servings (about 2/3 cups each) is too much for one day. (?)

i can tell you that i have asked a similar question in the past, because instead of the recommended 1/2 cup, i was having about 1 cup, and i was told that that was fine - and it DOES NOT count towards 75 cal of sweets. so, fret not.

glad you liked it!

I don't think it's part of the 75 calorie thing

I use cottage cheese instead of ricotta.

Thanks, I will give that a try, I also think perhaps the nuts might help too. Thank you both!!

What type of ricotta cheese are you using? I just bought the Frigo brand and I don't like it as much as the Lucerine (sp?)-this one has a smoother texture that I like a lot better

than the Frigo brand

Try putting the ingredients in a food processor if you have one and mix it until it is smooth and creamy. It is so much better than mixing by hand. The mocha dessert tastes like chocolate mousse when made this way with a little bit of lite reddi whip on top. YUM!!
