I'm starting tomorrow - help

I have read the book and am going to try it out. I'm a bit confused, though. Do I have to follow the menus in the book or can I substitute (I'm not a big fan of canadian bacon and that's not really what I love for breakfast)? There really isn't a guide for that in the book so I am curious from those who are doing the diet already. And as for the next phase, how do you know how much of each thing you can add in?

How does everyone like it?

Thanks!

You don't have to follow the menu suggestions from the book if you don't want to. If it's on the foods to enjoy list, it is good for any meal. My breakfasts for phase 1 have either been hard boiled eggs or vanilla sf/lf yogurt. I hear the quiche cups from the book make a very good breakfast as well. Good luck, and check back often for support!

Hi! I've only been on the SBD for five days now, but I know how you feel. I kept pushing back the date I was going to start, but finally jumped in.

I also know what you mean about the menus. I am a very picky eater, so finding a well balanced meal was tough at first. To make it easier for myself, I put the meals on index cards. So, when dinner rolls around, I pick a meat, and two vegetables that I like and that's my meal.

As for the recipes, you can use any spices that don't have sugar and broths, so you really aren't limited to the book. Although, I have tried a bunch of them, and they're pretty good. The only thing I'm not crazy over is the ricotta dessert, but I love jello, so that's what I have for dessert.

Good luck!

This is kind of getting off topic, but I noticed you said you didn't like the ricotta dessert. I HATE it because of its gritty texture. However, I tried something yesterday that I really liked - got it from another site. Put one cup of ricotta in the blender. Dissolve SF jello in one cup boiling water, then add it to the blender. Mix until frothy, then let chill. I guess the heat kind of melted the ricotta and made it smooth. I really liked it!

The texture is the same reason why I didn't like it. Thank's for the recipe, I'm definitely going to try it.
