Hi,

I'm new to the boards and about to start the South Beach Diet on Tuesday. I'm quite excited and had a couple of questions for phase 1 that don't seem to be in the book...

1. Am I allowed onions in phase 1? What about phase 2?

2. I noticed some really good recipes for Salmon in the book, unfortunately I don't like Salmon. Has anyone tried these receipes with some other meat that worked well too? If so, what meat?

I'm sure I'll have more but those are the ones that come to mind at the moment.

Thanks!

onions are allowed (and tasty!)

also, any recipie that works for salmon should also work well with other rich fish like sea bass or sometimes even striped bass (although that will stand up better with some of the lighter sauces.) both are white fish.

good luck.

hope

Okay, I might be a bit confused. I have yet to read the book fully so I may have just not gotten to it...but is that table you sent me for phase 1? I was under the impression that no milk was allowed in phase 1.

I'll be reading the book and planning for my start next week so hopefully I'll have a better understanding by then.

In the beginning milk wasn't allowed in P1 but since then they have revised that and you can have milk (skim or 1%) and plain or low-fat yogurt w/out fruit.
