and NINE POUNDS lost!!! Holy COW! Keep in mind I have 150 to lose, so I still have a long way to go but is that normal??? I couldn't believe it. Same scale, same clothes, same time of day. DH has lost 3.5 and DD 1.5 (with her doctor's permission). I am hoping to lose all my weight within a year. I am beginning to think I might actually be able to do this!

Any tips or advice?

Yes it is possible, but be warned... during phase 1 your weight will flectuate quite a bit (which is why you are advised to weigh in weekly).

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm on day 4. Got a little headachy and nauseaus yesterday, but I forgot to eat my cheesestick mid morning. Feel much better today. I did ATkins last year for about 6 months and lost 25 but my dad got very ill and passed away in Dec.and I basically fell apart.Needless to say I put 20 back ON in 2 months! Amazing what those nasty bad carbs do. I found out while doing the Atkins that I felt much better taking a good vitamin. I've also found a book that I read before the SBD written by Jonny Bowden called Low Carb for Life. What an EXCELLENT book. I couldn't put it down. He reviews 14 of the top low carb diets. It convinced me to try SBD. I love it because the first two weeks you can have as much of the right veggies as you want. Atkins you couldn't-even though I think it's also a good diet-I just needed more variety. Anyway, Jonny's book is so full of information. He goes into so much detail about sugar, insulin, supplements, all kinds of info. He is very dedicated to his profession. Discussing the different diets was only a small part of his book. He really inspired me to straighten up my act or suffer the consequences.I keep picking it up and rereading it. I don't know how much I've lost. I'll check tomorrow. I have about 50 to lose. I'll let you know what it is. I know in the past diets (WW, Atkins) I've tried they said the more you have to lose the quicker it comes off in the beginning. So keep up the good work!! GL to your DH and DD. Here's to a healthier life for all of us!! Keep in touch. Dawn

Hi Jen, just wondering how you're doing. I finally got brave and weighed myself a few days ago. I lost 4.5! Not bad I guess. I want to start exercising-walking is about all I can do right now but I have to get dr ok first. I had a heart arrythmia(sp?) a few years back that was taken care of with a catheterization procedure-or so I thought. I got it back about a month ago. Had about 4 "incidents" which can be very unnerving. Drs say it isn't life threatening, but they want to "catch it in the act" again to see if it's the same problem or a new one. I'm sort of hoping it's the old problem and they can treat it without meds(I hate taking anything stronger than Tylenol!) Anyhow, I have my little monitor and I have to try to catch the little bugger-which I have once so far. I keep it for a month. Hopefully, I'll get the all clear for walking and I can get back to trying to get fit. I hope you are doing well. I'm sure you will with all the support that's out there. If nothing else, we have to say we have made a HUGE step in the right direction. Take care of yourself. Hope to hear from you. "Keeping the faith"--Dawn
