I am a newbie here, but this is what I have for dessert:

You can have a sugar free fudgescicle which I LOVE and has been my choice of dessert for the past three nights.

Yes, there are some desserts made with ricotta cheese (the part-skim kind). In the book there are recipes for Ricotta Cremes in Lemon Zest, Almond, Vanilla, Mocha, or Lime Zest. Essentially they are all 1/2 cup of ricotta with a package of sugar substitute and then some sort of flavoring.

My favorite is made with 1/2 cup of part skim ricotta, 1/2 teaspoon of cocoa powder and a package of Splenda. I'm not sure I would have gotten past the first week without this dessert. It fills me up more than the other recommended desserts (sugar free: fudgesicles, popsicles, or gelatin). Check your book for some more on the list......the limit is 75 calories per day in "Sweet Treats."

Good luck, and welcome to the SBD!

You can have as many desserts that you want as long as you aren't going over 75 calories per day of sweets and they don't consist of fruit in the first 2 weeks.

After dinner I really like having a cup of reduced calorie (and low sugar) hot chocolate.

I love the ricotta desserts. Almond is my favorite because I like the crunch of the toasted almonds on top. I read this somewhere else and it sounds yummy although I haven't tried it yet...

Dreamsicle Dessert

1/2 cup part skim ricotta

1/2 tsp orange extract (or a little more to taste)

1/4 tsp. vanilla

2-3 packets Splenda

Mix all in the blender to a smooth consistency. Tastes like a dreamsicle!

I might try adding a little orange zest to enliven the flavor instead of more extract that can sometimes taste bitter.
