I went and the hostess had all kinds of lovely Valentine's treats. Butter cookies with pretty pink frosting and sprinkles, homemade tortillas, a tray full of cheese, crackers, grapes, and apples, and black olives with seeds. The killer was the homemade truffles made of dark chocolate rolled in cocoa, coffee, or nuts. So yum. Also lots of wine- of course. (it IS Bunco after all!) I cut off some cheese and had that, ate some olives, and stuck to a couple small handfuls of nuts that were on the tables. Drank diet coke and coffee. It had hazlenut creamer in it but I'll let myself splurge on that. (my friend poured the cup for me so I just let her do it) I DID bring home one of the truffles to keep in my freezer until phase 1 is over- then I think I'll eat it over 2 or 3 days. (it's kinda big and everyone said they are VERY chocolate-ey) I think the best thing was that I wasn't DYING for anything. I enjoyed the chat while everyone else ate, listened to them describe the food, and what I was really drawn to was the smell of the coffee which wasn't bad!

I'm quite proud of myself. Next month I'll have the wine (the fact that I'm driving will help keep it to 2 glasses) and maybe a few crackers with the cheese, but not many. The big "problem" now is that one of the girls is in a BIG St. Patrick's day parade and we are talking about going down to party with her. I'm starting to think that maybe I'll just stay home, away from the green beer and fatty corned beef and enjoy their stories when they get back.
