Day 3 and feeling sick
| Wed, 02-18-2004 - 8:02am |
I am on day three of the SB diet and feeling very sick, Diarreha(sp) Headache, stomach pains, bloating. Honestly I expected the headache, since I'm cutting out sugar and refined flour etc. but I'm not sure if this diet is right for my system the way i feel right now, DH is on day three and he is not experiencing any of this.

First off welcome to the board and the beach.
Susan :)
My menu yesterday was like this,
I had 1 cup of coffee caffinated( Im weaning)2 eggs scrambled an 2 pieces turkey bacon
a mozzerella stick for a mid morning snack
A salad with a chicken breast at lunch with ranch dressing
a ham roll up for snack
1 chicken breast a large salad and several helpings of broccoli and cauliflower stir fried in olive oil for dinner,
After eating dinner is when I really started feeling bad although I had been marginal all day
I think I am eating enough, I am type 2 diabetic so am accustomed to eating a little more frequently just not the right foods before
Sugar free products would be Crystal light which I drink all the time I did have a diet soda, I don't drink soda very often but have never had it effect me like this.
Hmmm, the things you are eating now are they new to your body?
Well you meal looks good, but you might want to add a V8 or 1/2 a cup of veggies to breakfast.
Susan :)
I had tummy-flu-like symptoms in the early days of Phase 1 - in fact, they lasted 3 days. I was nauseous, weak, shaky, lethargic, headaches, etc. Even though I was absolutely not hungry - the thought of food made me even worse - I still tried to drink a lot of water and tried to continually snack on "legal" foods. The other thing I did that is not really recommended, but I felt I had to do in order to be able to get through the day, was to sip ginger ale (and not the diet kind, either). I used a small kids cup and filled it halfway. This way I knew I wasn't drinking too much. I grabbed a bottle of water and alternated sips of water and ginger ale. I felt tremendously better a short time after doing this. I also made sure to eat a snack as close to bedtime as I could because my symptoms were worse in the morning. Putting something in my belly before bed helped to eliminate the "pseudo-morning sickness." Now, I don't know if my ginger ale sipping cure altered my weight loss, but in my opinion, it didn't matter. I felt like death was knocking on my door and if it took sidelining the plan a bit to make me feel better, than that's what I was going to do. I made it through and I am very happy with my progress so far (20+ pounds in less than 2 months).
You should know that the ginger ale suggestion is not something everyone here will agree with...I am just sharing what worked for me. Everyone is different. I had to do what was going to make me feel better - sitting home sick was not an option for me.
Good luck and I hope you feel better.
:) Christine
