Hi all. I've been lurking for a couple weeks now. I love this board, you all are so supportive of each other! I bought the book and have read through it. I have a lot to lose, at least 80 lbs. I feel so discouraged because I look at what's ahead and wonder how I'm ever going to do this. But I know if I put my mind to it I can really do it. I hope I can be part of this community, you guys are great.

Now on to my question. For the first phase, do I have to follow the menu exactly? Or can I choose meals from the foods to enjoy list and make my own menus? I wasn't a 100% sure. Your responses are greatly appreciated.

Menus are just samples to give you ideas. i look at the P1 grocery list and come up with my own menus, it is very simple when you try it that way.

There's lots of here that have much to lose. My goal is 70- and I have 57 left to lose. This diet will make it fairly easy as it has a wide variety of foods- at least in Phase Two. Something I read said that you don't need willpower, you need wisdom to pick the right foods. After the first week or so, you won't need willpower to continue on the diet. It will become just a way of eating, so we can all do it for the time it takes.

Meanwhile it will be a time of discovery for me as I see the weight coming off and enjoying the process.
