i know i shouldn't...but if i didn't, i wouldn't be what i am today... haha...

But anyway... I'd like to know if anyone has had experiences with Cheating on the diet (i know... cheating with a capital 'C'!)

I've had friends SCARE me about cheating on the Atkins diet... and mind you, he was a doctor... they insisted if you so much as let a slice of bread through your lips, it'll go to your tummy as fat...and probably bloat up to 3 times its size! (okay i exaggerate)

So what happens if you do cheat? Will all your 'good work' go to waste? Or does it merely set you back a little? Does it affect the way your body chemistry work?

A huge reason why i never stuck with atkins was the fear of messing around with my body chemistry. does SB mess around? If not, how do you achieve the proclaimed weight loss of 13lb in 2 weeks! (that's incredible... wld be abt a third of what i hope to lose!)

The weight loss on phase 1 varies by how closely you follow the program, how much you have to lose, your body type, and various other factors, so don't be surprised if you don't lose 13 pounds in the first two weeks. I lost 6, and had a couple minor cheats in that time. The important thing about the SBD is that it's a way of life. Life is meant to be enjoyed, so occasional cheats aren't going to ruin anything. If you do stray from the way of eating once in awhile, just get back on track right away and you won't do any real damage. If you stray from the way of eating for a long period of time, or feel your cravings coming back, go back to phase 1 for a short time to get the cravings back under control. The SBD does affect your body chemistry in a positive way, which is best explained in the book or by someone who understands it better than I do.

Everyone is different so there is no real answer what happens to you.

Thanks ladies! Sounds like a great way to live = )

I've been pretty good so far... well almost... till dinner last night, where I just had to take a couple of bites from the popcorn brownie sundae at TGIF that my bf ordered... oh well... fortunately, i read in the book that it's best to start the diet in the morning on a clean slate, where most of the damage done the night before has been undone... so presumably, that would mean whatever you ate the night beofre has a lesser impact on your blood sugar level? is that right?

though i did notice that i found it harder to keep to the diet today...and i was starving in about 3-4 hours after dinner last night... despite having had a huge dinner...

good news though, is that i stuck with it today, used my will power to make it through...

my scales are grossly inaccurate, so i'm gonna use my pair of 'skinny pants' to measure any weight loss... :)

dream of course, is to be able to fit into this pair of gorgeous white skinny jeans i bought at one of my all time lows... in weight! :P

thanks for the encouragement mel & arachne!
