HI ALL!!

My cholesterol is high, trygiclericides out of the roof (1070). I've been

on weight watchers and most recently fat flush. Of course, every time I stop

I gain again, but I guess it's time to get serious. My doctor suggested the South Beach diet. I've been reviewing as much as I can on the internet, haven't gotten the book yet. It seems like a lot is very similar to the fat flush. What I need to get started before my book gets in is some guidelines and recipes for phase 1. Do y'll have a listing of recipes posted somewhere that I might look at. A lost of the roasted veggies and chicken recipes are a lot like the fat flush, but I don't want to get on the wrong track. Doc has put me on ADDITIONAL chosleterol meds and I've got 4 weeks to get on track.

thanks for any help you can give me.

I lost a lot of weight on the Fat Flush a couple of years ago- the gain back wasn't due to the FF diet itself but going back to uncontrolled carbs after. Live, learn and diet again! I find the SBD to be much easier to be on as it's not all the timing of when to have the hot water and lemon, the Long Life Cocktail (yuck- never was able to swallow it), the cranberry water. SBD is very easy once you get into the mode of eating. After the strictness of the FF, the SBD fits a bit easier. The phase one of FF was a bit like "Diet Boot Camp" while SBD has a lot more choices.

Check out Dr. Weil's web site taking about insulin resistance and triglycerides:

I still take the Borage oil from my FF days and use the Stevia Plus rather than Splenda. Maybe you can keep what worked for you.

My doctor put me on the south beach last Aug. and my health has improved because of it. I do have to test my cholestrol(300's) again this month as when I had it checked last month eating yodells of shrimp brought my cholestrol(730) though the ceiling. When I told him what I did.His remark was"Are you cheating on your diet(beach)". Hopeful this Wed the cholestrol test will improve as I'm watching carefully what I'm eating this week.Otherwise I have to go on additional medicine myself and I don't want that. Good luck on your new test. Hugs Maryann
