I'm confused!

I'm sure I am making this harder than it needs to be. The book confuses me a bit, though. Do I have to follow the menus, or are they just guidelines (which I am assuming).

Also, if I have 1/3 or so of an avacado, does that mean no salad dressing? What is the total for fats, or is there a total? What about olives? I realize they are to be used sparingly, I just want to make sure I am being "sparing" enough.

Thanks for any advice!

Mary

You are right on all accounts - the menus are just guidelines.

Salad Dressing is my weakness!!! 2 tablespoons of dressing is not enough for two/three cups of salad. I've even tried to water it down a tad.

Mary, here's a guide that helped me tremendously.

Salad dressing tip,

If you like salsa and sour cream, then you might try mixing low fat or non-fat sour cream with salsa. You can even add some low fat shredded cheese to it to make it even better. Of course you want to look for salsa that is sugar free, home-made is best. Sometimes I'll mix this in with low fat salad dressing and really have a great salad.

Thank you all so much! I think due to my YEARS as a Weight Watchers lifetime member, I am obsessed with counting. I'm not knocking WW, I have had good success. I have just found over the last few years (I just turned 40), refined/junk carbs are having a bad effect on me. Sadly, left to my own devices, that's about all I'll eat!

I did Atkins a while back, and felt great...but the overall plan wasn't for me. I think done right, and with common sense, it can be a good plan. I just like the SBD approach better. For instance, we can have beans! and nuts! and PEANUT BUTTER!

Well, thanks again, I know I will be back with more questions!
