A few questions

1. I am not sure if I am doing the snacks right. Are they both supposed to be comprised of a protein source. Sometimes I just eat raw veggies.

2. I will be starting P2 on Wednesday and I can't wait to have fruit. How many pieces am I allowed to have per day? From most of the menus in the book it looks like you can have up to 3 (happy happy joy joy)

3. Sugar? I just read one of the older posts that says that you can have up to 3 grams per day but where can I find this information. There seems to be so much info from people on this board that I can't find in the book. Where are you getting all of this stuff? I feel like I am missing out on some good stuff (LOL)- and I might stop pestering you all with these crazy questions!

4. Lent conveniently starts on the day that I am allowed to have some treats (I give up anything that can be considered junk food, desert, snack food) but I do break on Sundays. I think I can have popcorn on P2 so how much will I be allowed? In addition what other types of "junk food" will I be allowed on P2?

5. In the long run with this diet will I ever be able to have a slice or two of pizza or a bowl of good old fashioned macaroni (I'm Italian and I need to have lasagne or stuffed shells once a year just so I get to keep my paison-ness) If I do indulge will it just put the weight right back on me like I have heard it does in Atkins? What about a piece of a sub every once in a while on a good piece of hard semolina Italian bread? I want to make sure I am not dooming myself with this diet by messing with my body chemistry.

Finally (at least for now!) I want to thank everyone for always helping me out (especially with the Beano issue!). I am still having trouble accessing the boards from home so if anyone knows any way I can fix that problem I'd appreciate it. I emailed Customer Support last Sunday but I still haven't gotten any help (and it has been over a week so I don't think they will be getting back to me.)

Hello fellow paisan from NJ!!! I love your handle (scaredpoopless). What part of Jersey are you from? I come from Central Jersey (Freehold). I don't live there now, but I am almost glad I don't because I would die if I could not eat pizza from a real pizza place, like a family-owned place. Here in Michigan there is nothing but chains (Detroit is home to Domino's *and* Little Caesar's). I am going back for Spring Break this weekend and think I might have to indulge in one piece of Bella Vita or Lina's pizza... I also wish I could have tortellini carbonara with real prosciutto (*drool*), but I won't!

I know how rough it can be not to eat ANY pasta whatsoever. I would try to eat whole wheat pasta, but from what I've heard, prepare to feel crappy and bloated if you do. Be sure to keep it at a serious minimum and only for very special occasions. Also, don't be surprised if you put on a pound or two (temporarily) afterwards. And as Susan suggested, try to add some meat to your pasta to get some fat and protein in there to slow down the digestion of carbs.

You are lucky because the ricotta in Jersey (even generic brand) is far superior to the ricotta here in Michigan. It's much smoother and has a fresher taste. Anyway, I like to take some ricotta, mix in some tomato sauce (with the lowest amount of sugar I can find), and heat it up in the microwave. If you want to be extra creative, you can add some beef or sausage, as well as some garlic (yum!), and make it a pasta-less lasagna treat.

SBD is hard for me because lasagna is my forte as far as cooking. It's usually what I use to impress a guy, but now I won't have the chance :( And it is definitely hard to visit my grandmother without partaking in her lasagna (though mine rivals hers).

Good luck with Phase 2! I hope you can get by without the pasta!

Becca,

I do the same thing with ricotta.
