waffling - should I do it? no FRUIT????

OK, honestly - no fruit for the first two weeks? I think I could do the rest - but no oranges? Apples? Anything???? If I have just one will phase one be useless?? And can I actually stick to it? I've gained about 10-12 pounds since I got married and moved to the East coast (wedding September, moved October) and I HATE diets. But all my pants are too tight and I just can't afford to buy a whole new wardrobe. The whole "lose 13 lbs the first two weeks" is really appealing though...
SO, two questions...
1. can I have a little fruit the first two weeks?
2. Will I really lose that much??
Thanks so much!!
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth, welcome!
Elizabeth, this message board moves very fast, so if you can't see the article by the time you read this, here's the link:
I'll take your suggestions to heart. I think I will get the book and read it, if only for the background/nutritional information. I don't think I could give up fruit, not that I eat that much, but because I like it as a source of fiber. I do, however, really need to trim back on my sugar intake, so I think the plan will be helpful for that. So I guess I'll try a modified SBD. Thanks again!
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, if you do Phase 1 + fruit, you'll be doing a sort of "P2 Lite".
Here is some info to help...
The entire Phase 1 foods to enjoy and foods to avoid list (print and carry for grocery list):
Trust me - you will be getting plenty of fiber eating all of the veggies!! There really is not a real need for fruit!!
I am a firm believer that getting off of carbs, and for me it took me the entire two weeks to do so, is how you set yourself up for success in phase II. Your body stops craving fruit and sugars. Instead you get to eat them because you *want* to rather than *have* to. Does that make sense?
It is much easier to stick with the plan if your body is not trying to defy you at every turn!! LOL!!
Good luck with your decisions!
Lisa.
