Well, I dont really have time for breakfast usually so yesterday...

I didnt have breakfast,

I had a feta cheese with balsamico for lunch

I had a slice of feta for my snack

I had a veggie chilli (tabasco, kidney beans, tomato, Quorn(quorn is meat substitute)& low fat mozzarella melted on top)

Then I shared a feta salad with my friend & then eat about a bowl of monkey nuts (peanuts)

I really dont think I am doing this right, my chocolate cravings seem to have gone today though!!:o)

I never have snacks, plus I think I ate too much!

So today,

I started with 3 poached eggs,

A few monkey nuts for a snack

a feta cheese salad with balsamico.

another snack monkey nuts

For dinner I will have Cauliflower with a touch of I cant beleive its not butter & some low fat mozzarella to top it.

Does this sound better??

Day 2 sounds better.... You do need to eat breakfast, especially in phase 1.

Thanks for the reply!

I eat a lot of nuts today! I really blew it with the nuts, I'm finding it hard to find recipies that I like so I am going to try to make the peanut butter cookies tonight for my 2 snacks tomorrow ( & lock up the nuts), I need to be able to make some bakes but I worry I am overdoing it with the cheese, can you overdo the cheese?

So I have decided if I'm going to get anywhere with this diet I will have to keep to it rigidly (maybe I should start again!).

Any good spicy soups would be great (a lot of the recipies for vegetarians dont sound that nice, & I'm finding it hard to find the products.

For a vegetarian chili that I really like, and I'm definitely not a vegetarian, I've shamelessly copied Susan's Turkey chili recipe. To make it vegetarian, leave out the turkey and add a can or two of chickpeas (garbanzo beans), and maybe use black beans if you want. I've separated my changes with {}. Substitute any kind of beans you like that are on the foods to enjoy list for the meat. This makes a wonderful hearty chili.

Uncle John’s homemade Chili

1 lbs. ground beef or turkey (I use turkey) {use canned beans instead of meat}

1 TBS garlic powder

2 lg. Onions, chopped

2 celery stalks, diced

3 green peppers, diced

1 tsp. Salt

1/2 tsp. Pepper

1 tsp. Oregano

1 tsp. cumin

1 TBS chili powder

1 (28 oz. Can) of crushed tomatoes

2 (19 oz cans) kidney beans (black beans are good too)

3-4 shots of tobasco sauce

1. Brown the meat. {skip this step}

2. In a separate pan, sauté 1st 4 {onions, celery, green peppers} items in 2 TBS. oil.

NOTE: I didn't do this step (by mistake), I went to step #3. My chili didn't suffer any consequences, so I always skip this extra pan-dirtying step!!!

3. Place all ingredients into a pot & simmer for 1 hour, mixing and scraping the bottom frequently (every 15 minutes or so). **** Or put into crockpot all day on LOW, or 3-4 hrs on HIGH.

Serve over salad or brown rice (in phase 2)>>

If you find it hard to eat the nuts without overdoing it, separate daily allowances of nuts into snack-size ziplock bags. Only allow yourself one bag per day. Or don't eat nuts as snacks, only use them as garnish for salads or other meal items. Allow yourself to run out occasionally, so that temptation isn't there.

Yes, it's possible to overdo it with the cheese. Some people find that cheese may stall their weightloss. Others find that too much cheese will bind them up. I'm one that can definitely overdo the cheese easily. I find that I have to either have cheese as a snack or have it with a meal, never both in the same day. If that's a problem for you, allow yourself to run out of that occasionally too.

These are just suggestions that I use daily to help me with both of those. You might find another method works better for you. If you do, go for it. Whatever you do, take a deep breath and relax. You might not get this right in the first few weeks, but it's a way of life, so you have time.

Thanks for the advice, I'm definitely going to eat cheese 1 day as small snacks & then the next as a small part of a meal. I need to cut down on these things, I feel so dependent on them & I want to eat the right way for phase 1 & I really think that this is pulling me back from what I want to achieve. I found a great message for Grilled Broccoli & I'm going to do that tomorrow evening!

I've decided to bin the nuts, I cant stop once I start so I might as well get rid of the temptation. I've read a lot of people are really hungry on phase 1, I always feel really full, do I need to ration my food a bit more?

Thanks!

When you say you always feel really full, do you mean you are uncomfortably full? If you aren't stuffed, then don't worry about it. Either way, you can lower your oil/protein intake slightly and see if you are still comfortably full. It's great if you can be comfortably full all day. That means you aren't going to be looking for bad things to snack on, and you are keeping your sugar levels reasonably even. Great job, and good luck!
