I was doing good until I had an unpleasant run-in with someone. I'm sure she never gave it another thought (just a naturally rude person) but it grinded on my nerves all afternoon and I just gave in and ate a Honey Nut Cheerios cereal bar then for dinner I went to church and had the meal there which consisted of potatoes and bread and cake, ate all that too. Finished off the day with a brownie. Great job :-(

So obviously stress is a trigger for me (duh) how can I get past this??

You know rude people are stress triggers. And there are rude people all over the place so you're likely to meet at least one more in your lifetime, probably even within these 2 weeks! If you're a stress eater, you can be better prepared by keeping healthier snacks on hand, OR you can outwit the stress next time and tell yourself not to give in and let the rude people bother you and win. OR get up and take a short walk or break if possible - and leave your money for the candy machine at your work station. Don't take their rudeness out on yourself. Psychobabble, but sometimes it works.

If you could take last evening back, maybe you would not eat the cereal bar and you would replace it with a healthier snack that you brought from home. Your church dinner was probably a planned commitment, so maybe next time you could check out the offerings in advance, bring something healthy that you really like and could fill up on, or just make one choice from the bread, potato, or cake (reminding you that none of those are Phase I approved, but you were stressed and ticked off, so some leeway is needed, especially for a day 1).

I wouldn't feel horribly about a difficult first day. Just try again the next day.

Hang in there!
