I want to cry!

In my one week weigh in I lost 13 pounds. I am now at a 15 pound weight loss now (day 10) and yes I am happy. What I am unhappy about is now I am only losing .5 pounds a day or stay the same! I have not changed my eating habits, haven't cheated once, drinking all my water, etc. It seems since I started my power walks nightly (1.5 to 3 miles a night) that my weight loss stalled. I feel better - my clothes are not tight anymore...but, I miss all those numbers going down. I know it was water weight and thats why it came off so quick - but, are these numbers eventually going to start going down again? I would think with all this walking that it would be falling off quickly-but, no!

Don't want to get discouraged.

I am going to carry phase 1 for one more week before introducing small amounts of oatmeal and fruits.

Teresa,

Sorry you're feeling discouraged, but unfortunately, the weight loss is usually the fastest at the beginning.

If your cravings are gone, then I think its time for you to move into phase 2.

Teresa, you are doing great! Your "stall" is .5 lb a day?????? That is 3.5 lbs a week! A phenomenal, FAST weight loss! This is not a fad diet. The initial weight of course was part water and of course you lose faster in the beginning with a change in your body chemistry, but please do not cry over .5 lb a day! That is beyond expectations of most weight loss plans. Keep YOUR expectations realistic. Also, stop weighing every day!! Enjoy your new feelings, lose clothes, healthy exercise, and good food and bask in the glory of your success so far!!

.5 pounds a day??? You know, I would love to be in your shoes because I have been stalled for 2 weeks!!! Stop worrying about how much you lose per day and take a step back at how much you have lost total!!!! .5 pounds a day weight loss is healthy and you can expect even that to go down. The healthy amount of weight to lose each week is 2-3 pounds. You'r doing wonderful and I know alot of these ladies would love to be in your shoes.

Teresa, why would you get discouraged or "want to cry", thinking you're not losing weight fast enough?

Teresa, I'm just going to echo what everyone else has said. You've done fantastically with Phase I. Now hide your scale for a little while and move carefully into Phase II, choosing one or two things from the Phase II "foods to enjoy" list. And keep walking - your aerobic capacity will increase with time and exertion and you'll find yourself going longer and harder.

I'm going to toss out the idea of weight training here, too. Weight training will build up your muscle so you'll burn fat more efficiently. Yes, muscle weights more than fat, but it's also denser than fat, so they'll be less of you in a more toned and shapely body. At the rate that Curves' studios are opening, there must be one near you, and I 'm sure you've seen the positive remarks people on this and other boards have to say about it. Drop in to a few of them, get a tour, see if any of them will offer you a visitor's pass for a week and make a sincere effort to use it. If you like how it feels, consider a short membership - a few months - and see if it makes a difference in helping you sustain your weight loss. With the warmer weather coming, exercising in air-conditioned comfort might be nice. 30 minutes out of your day a few days a week - how bad can it be? Just make sure you know how the machines work and that there's someone there who can make sure you're using them properly.

Good luck, Teresa! You've come a long way - don't get discouraged or frustrated because your weight loss has slowed down...
