I miss my vanilla yogurt with strawberries and blueberries.. I wont eat yogurt with nutrasweet in it and I cant find any with splenda.. not that i'd like it like that anyways because i don't care for splenda to much.. I just use it on occasion if I have a very bad sweet tooth and then i only eat 2 or 3 bites of what im having with it in it.. So my question is... on phase 2 can I have vanilla yogurt with sugar in it with my fruit? or is that a no no.. I really miss my yogurt..

Thanks

Sorry but you can't have real sugar on any phase :(

You are allowed non-fat plain or vanilla yogurt on Phase 1.

So if no sugar is allowed on any phase then why is it that some recipes in phase 3 call for sugar? the sponge cake calls for 3/4ths of a cup of sugar in the recipe, the chocolate for all the choc dippped fruits has sugar in it, the lime cheesecake calls for 1/4th plus 2 tbsp's of sugar and 1/4th cup of lowfat vanilla yogurt.. it doesnt say anything about sugar free.. so I have to live the rest of my life with absolutely NO sugar??? That is totally impossible.. I don't see why I can't enjoy an occasional vanilla yogurt with sugar and my fruit on level 3..If that is the case then the only thing sweet I'll ever have is fruit? Because I refuse to eat all the artificial sweetners.. we are supposed to be eating healthy but putting all those chemicals in your body can't be good..

Hey, it's OK! You can have absolutely anything you really want. That's what Phase 3 is all about. You eat what you want with the knowledge you've learned from Phases 1 and 2!

Yogurt has sugars naturally due to the fact that it's made from milk products. There have been tons of discussions here about yogurt. Even the non-fat varieties list quite a bit of sugar on the label. You might want to search on "yogurt" and see what messages the feature pulls up.

I'm not sure what recipes you're referring to (in the book maybe? I lent mine out), but if those are SB sanctioned recipes, then

I got those recipes from the original south beach diet book and it plainly says Sugar, not Sugar substitute.. I know yogurt is extremely healthy for you and I'm missing it so much with some strawberries and bluberries in it.. I'd rather have sugar than contaminate my body with chemicals from artificial sweetners..The Key is moderation..

It is all in how effective you want the SBD to be. It is 100% your decision.

Splenda - I have a box here at work - contains the following: Dextrose, Maltodextrin and Sucralose....It is actually made from real sugar.....I know you said that you don't like splenda, but from what I can tell, it is much "safer" than other sugar substitutes, it does not containe aspertame...

If yogurt is what you want, again, it's 100% your decision...

Yes I do want yogurt on occasion but what I'm confused about is that some of the dessert recipes call for sugar but I cant have sugar in my yogurt?? I'm completely confused? What if i used The yogurt(with sugar) for my dessert on phase 3 instead of the other sugary treats? What is the difference?

Yes, sugar is in some of those recipes in the Phase 3 section of the book.

Also, Phase 3 is about living life. I've reached goal eating a plan similar to SBD - I only got the book a week ago and I've been cutting out processed carbs and bad fats for a year now...but sugar and most additives don't do anything bad to me. So if I get low fat yogurt and it has 9 grams sugar, I'll eat it. I'll eat raw carrots till my face turns orange and the occasional potato..and *gasp* I eat white rice EVERY DAY!!!! but not in huge servings. It's about making the WOE work for you.
