What am I doing wrong?

I am new to this board, but I have been on the south beach diet for 9 days now and have only lost 2 pounds. What am I doing wrong? I am so upset and confused. I combined the diet with my workout, and I do three cardio workouts a week and two weight lifting workouts a week. I don't understand what is going wrong. Any suggestions? Thanks so much for your help.

A sample menu:

I will tell you what I had to eat yesterday.

Breakfast- 2 hard boiled eggs

Snack - String cheese

Snack - a handful of nuts

Lunch - two small hamburger patties made on a george foreman grill with lowfat cheese

Dinner - a salad with low carb ranch dressing

after workout - 2 hard boiled eggs

I want to lose 40 pounds. I am at 162 now and need to be at 125 by September. I have lost 10 pounds since January, but not on the SBD. I have no medical or health issues that should be preventing me from losing. I just don't understand. Am I not eating enough or am I eating the wrong things? I am weightlifting, so maybe gaining muscle?

This is my suggestion.... you can up your cardio to 4-5 days a week but don't lift more than 3 days. Muscle does weigh more than fat so always keep that in mind when you are working out. Are you on a toning program or a heavy weightlifting program? If you are on the heaview program then that is probably were the reduced weight loss is from. You are still losing weight but at the same time you are gaining muscle. It balances out in some sense :D

As for your menu, try a V-8 w./ breakfast, try a small salad or veggie snack w./ lunch, and try a protein w./ dinner. The only thing that I see is that you are not eating enough vegetables. Make sure you are drinking enough water as well. Iced Green Tea is something that helps w./ my weight loss.

Hope this helps

I think you need to add lots more veggies.

Sounds to me like you are on the Atkins diet. Do you have the South Beach book? The sample menus are really helpful, I think. They would show you where & when to add more veggies.

for one thing you need 1/2 cup of veggies with breakfast (a glass of V8 will do) and 2 cups with BOTH lunch and dinner.

Hi I looked at your sample menu and I would suggest adding vegetables it really helps to two cups at the two meal times i only see a salad you should be having a salad for lunch, some sort of vegetable for breakfast, and a protein and some more =veggies with the salad for dinner. The vegetables could really help you out there otherwise , maybe your gaining muscle which weighs more then fat. Just a suggestion, good luck
