I have read all the posts pertaining to this and I have no clue as to what yogurt I should be eating. I got rid of the locarb dannon, and bought the lite and fit nonfat vanilla. BUT.. it lists fructose in the ingredients. Is it ok to eat?? Please, someone help me....LOL... Michelle

Sugar-Free Yogurt?

Q: I can't seem to find sugar-free yogurt. What's your advice?
—Kelly

A: All yogurt—and all milk products—contain lactose, a naturally occurring sugar that's low on the glycemic index. For this reason, there's technically no such thing as sugar-free yogurt. Here's a guide to buying yogurt:

No matter what Phase you're in, the best yogurt choice is plain, fat-free yogurt. Feel free to add 1-2 teaspoons of sugar substitute or flavor the yogurt like a ricotta crème.

People in Phase 2 can also introduce artificially sweetened, nonfat flavored yogurt. Many yogurt companies add additional sugar to their flavored yogurt, so you'll need to look for varieties that use a sugar substitute. To find them, look for the words "light" or "lite"—these labels mean that the yogurt has one-third less calories than other types of yogurt. You'll need to limit the amount of artificially sweetened, nonfat, flavored yogurt you eat to 4 ounces daily. This is because most yogurt companies have reformulated this type of yogurt by adding high-fructose corn syrup, an ingredient that's high on the glycemic index.

I use a brand called Axelrod. It is non-fat, sugar free (sweetened with aspartame), and has 90 calories. It's yummy!
