Weight Tables?

Hi all,

I know that weight tables can be erroneous because they don't take into account muscle vs. fat, body build, etc, but I am curious to know if anyone knows of a good, accurate weight table.

I think my goal right now is 125, then I will see how I feel and possibly go to 115 as my final goal, but I am just not sure if I am on target with this range. I think part of my problem with my weight is that I don't know where is good. Some days I look in the mirror and I think I look fine, then some days I see a picture or something, and I think, woah, I gotta lose some weight!! :) How does one know where the goal/target weight should be set?

do a search of these boards for BMI (body mass index). One of the CLs had posted a link to a site that would both calculate your BMI and had a table of them.

A (very) rough calculation we used as kids was 100 lbs for 5' tall. For every inch over 5', add 5 lbs for women and 7 lbs for men. That obviously doesn't take into account different frames, muscle mass, etc. but it is a starting point.

Personally, I set my goal in two ways. One is to fit into my "skinny" jeans. It was possible two and a half years ago, so it is still possible to happen again. The weight goal is the weight I was at about the same time. I was not just thin, but in great physical shape (strong, good cardiovascular, etc).

HTH!

The BMI is fine, but it can be inaccurate for those who gain weight through building lean muscle tissue (muscle weighs more than fat). There are scales on the market that use an electromagnetic pulse to determine body fat percentage. I just ordered one - it's made by Tanita. Dr. Phil uses them all the time during the weight loss challenge shows.

Awesome link!! Thank you! It sounds like 125 is a good goal for me now. I will re-evaluate when I get to that point. That would put me in a healthy weight range. Wow, that is 12 lbs. away. I just have to keep telling myself that I can do it!
