Phase 1 Stay if not losing?

This is day 8 and I have yet to lose any weight or inches. I have not cheated on kinds of food but maybe a bit on quantity of nuts. I just can't help myself in the snack department. I switched to this diet (from calorie counting) to try to jump start my weight loss. Since January, I have lost 20 pounds but I have been stuck for a month. I am still stuck on SBD as well. What I need to know is this...If (at the end of the two weeks) I have still not lost any weight, should I stay in Phase 1 until I start to notice a difference? I do exercise (1/2 hour vigorous on elliptical) daily and drink plenty of water. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kim

Hi Kim,

I'm not an expert, but from what I've read, you should move on to Phase 2. Dr. Agatston mentions in his book that those who stay on Phase 1 for longer than two weeks are the most likely to fail. It's just too limited, and many people get to the point where they cannot resist their cravings any longer.

Also, some people on this board had stalls in Phase 1, only to have the weight come off quickly once they began Phase 2. Try adding one type of fruit and one grain daily, while monitoring how it effects your body. If your cravings return or grow stronger, you know that particular food is not right for you.

Nuts are very high in fat and calories, so that could be part of the problem. Maybe try roasting chickpeas in the oven and eat them instead when you're craving a snack.

Hope this helps!

How much is a "bit" with the nuts? It's supposed to be between 10 - 20 nuts per day, depending on the kind, correct? I really had to reduce my intake and go back to counting them instead of grabbing a few now and then. (My "few" may be the same as your "a bit".LOL)

I also cut back on cheese and red meat. Makes a difference!

Hi Kim,

Why don't you post a sample menu for us to take a look at.
