I've read on several posts that taking Metamucil 15 minutes before eating will help with the bloating. I know this is a stupid question, but does it also help with the constipation? I've never taken metamucil before - Actually, I'd never heard of it until I started reading this forum. Also, would you take the pills or the powder, or does it matter?

Either the pill or powder form is fine.

I like the tablets.... found the powder too gritty and unpleasant (funny how personal taste varies, huh?).

I also take the capsules, I don't like the powder. Fiber definately slows down the digestive system, you feel full longer. I take 2 capsules before meals (up to 3 times a day but I often forget some) and so far they haven't had any laxative effects on me. Everyone is different though.

Good luck,

Sue

Just bumping this up for a follow-up question :)

I've got the orange-flavored Metamucil here but haven't had it yet because I'm concerned of the sugar content. Also, for other powdered drinks. Up to how many grams of sugar is allowed per serving? I read the SBD book and it said that sugar in liquids are absorbed at a much faster rate so where do I draw the line in flavored beverages???

Do you have the sugar-free Metamucil?
