Still no whoosh...

I don't get it.  2 weeks, 1 day in and no whoosh.  I've lost about 4 pounds, but my clothes don't fit better at all.  I have about 35 pounds to lose and I usually lose very quickly in the beginning of a diet.   Its very normal for me to lose 4 pounds the first week and it didn't happen this time.   I'm following the plan very well (ok, I did have 2 cheats in the last 2 weeks, but went right back).

Is this normal?  I started the Metamucil 2 nights ago.  Does it take long to kick in?  I did forget it last night and this morning, but I'm still taking 2 pills twice a day.  I'm going to try to keep it at 2 pills 3 times a day.   I'm starting to get discouraged and I don't want to since this is the easiest diet I've ever been on and I'm having no problems following it.   I feel great otherwise, but I want to see some progress already.

Hi Liz, you have been on South Beach (phase 1) for two weeks, right?

Hi Maggie,

That means I've been doing SB for 2 weeks and 1 day.

Hi Liz, I'm baffled about your being bloated, and you know it's not TOM or constipation.

If you do a search on spotting, you'll find some good threads on it. From what I recall, it is only during the first cycle that you are on SB, and it can vary by when you started SB. The explanation is that fat cells produce estrogen, as well as that produced by your ovaries. Estrogen is what triggers our uterus to develop its lining. When you lose weight, you lose estrogen. This drop can cause some breakthrough bleeding.

As for the bloat, might it be salt related? Some of the things we eat on SB can be higher in sodium content than you think. Extra dairy might be doing it, too.

But hang in there, you WILL start seeing and feeling results!

Hi Liz,

The best advice for bloating (which is not uncommon until your body adjusts to this WOE), is to drink plenty of water, exercise and watch your salt intake.

Tomorrow is day four for me of phase one and no whoosh since I've started.

Also, I feel very tired early in the evening. Any thoughts??

Good Luck
