Canadian bacon vs. regular bacon

Okay, I feel really dumb right now. I bought some bacon last night. The label said "from Canada", so therefore I thought it was Canadian bacon. Now I realize that real canadian bacon is the round kind, right? I don't have time to stop at the store tonight and tomorrow for breakfast we're supposed to have bacon. I know I can sub something else for it, but I was so looking forward to it. Will it make that much of a difference if I microwave it so the grease isn't so bad??

It's not on the foods-to-enjoy list.
Susan :)
Hi Gina, don't feel dumb....I made innocent mistakes like that several times right at first.
Canadian Bacon is round like ham. Its called Canadian bacon because the traditional way to prepare it is by using maple syrop. In Canada, we also call it Canadian bacon and regular bacon, is called "bacon".
There is something new out in the supermarkets called "Canadian Bacon, Turkey style"... Has way less fatty ingredients than regular canadian bacon.
Reason why I want to clear this up is because I had a friend from Florida who came to visit and we went to do groceries together. She picked up regular bacon and said "hey this canadian bacon is like our normal bacon".... I couldn't help but laugh at her...
Well I hope this clears it up.
A good way to make Canadian Bacon is on the BBQ... I make it while I make dinner on the BBQ and warm it up the next day. It's really good.
