Hi! This board is great, I have used it so much, this is my first post. I am on day 5, but still working without a book (it is on it's way in the mail) I have been relying on this board for all my info.

My question, if I have a day were I break from phase 1, am I then back to square 1? Do I have to start it over again? I see break in the diet coming this weekend, but if my whole week will be for nothing I may have to change my plans.

Thanks!!

During my first week of Phase One we celebrated our wedding anniversary. We had things that were not P1-approved, but did our best to make good choices. I felt horrible the next morning (kind of like a hangover, but not really), and we went back to P1 for the rest of the two weeks.

Our meal included red wine with dinner and we split a dessert of mixed berries with a custard sauce. We didn't eat the potatoes or the bread. I had a seafood entree with veggies, my DH had a lean cut of meat with veggies.

It can be a slippery slope to allow yourself a meal off, so be careful. But I figured it was better to start 4/4 and "cheat" on 4/8 than to wait until 4/12 to start. I wanted to get moving! I didn't feel like I had to go back to Day One to attone for my "sins". But you know yourself and this event better than I do, so you will have to be the judge.

My suggestion would be to gauge how off track the day would really be (can you snack on SB things before or after so you aren't super hungry during? Will there be choices that aren't too far off? Or is this a cake eating contest?). This is a WOE and you are still supposed to be living your life.

the beauty of this program is NO, its not a total wash if you have one day off the program. I would go right back to phase 1 eating the day after and you may have some extra cravings that day but they will go away just as quickly (usually a day or so). You don't have to start over, just pick up where you left off. If you feel the need for a few extra days on phase 1 go for it!

Even when you reach stage 2 and have a bad day/weekend maybe try going back to phase 1 for a day or two and you will be fine!

This weekend is tough for me too, its my birthday and Mother's Day. I plan on sticking with as much of the plan as possible but not going to worry about every little bite. And I also plan on taking my fiber and drinking my water, two things that should help counteract the bad I do. :)

Good luck,

Sue

What's the challenge this weekend- maybe we can help and gives you ideas specific to what's coming up. Like, if you are having people over vs going somewhere, restaurant eating, special dessert temptation. I've found that there are ways around everything and that it's a learninge experience.
