Is exercise necessary in Phase 1?

Is exercise necessary for weight loss in Phase 1? I work full time and go to school full time with 2 kids and a husband and have absolutely no time for exercising right now unless I want to wake up at 3:30 in the morning to exercise, because I have to be out the door by 6:00 and I work 53 miles from home. All of my after work time is spent cooking, preparing meals for the next day, "trying" to spend time with my family and studying. I am really trying to hang in there on this diet, I'm on day 3 of Phase 1 and haven't cheated and have resisted every temptation thrown at me so far. I would hate to know that I can only lose if I exercise :(

Gina, you can lose weight in Phase 1 without exercise.

Thanks for your reply. I could check about taking walks at lunch. The only thing is that we have to wear professional attire at work, so I would have to bring a change of clothes with me. But, it can be done!

Thanks!

why not just wear comfy shoes and walk? take the stairs at work? park farther from the building?

I will definitely start taking the stairs at work. As far as wearing comfy shoes, some days here in San Diego, it's fine. But, other days it gets too hot to be walking outside in a dress suit! But, it's not a problem to do a quick change in the restroom and take a quick half hour walk at lunch. Thank you for the ideas. Hopefully it will help with my weight loss as well as eating healthier now!
