New SBer-PLEASE HELP!

Here is my story-I am a 25-year old woman who is 5'6" and weighs 148 lbs. Not bad, by any means I know. I am getting married in 9 weeks. I really would like to lose 10-15 lbs. (the latter, ideal:) ). I really want to do the SB diet b/c it is healthy & I have heard so many good things about it & seen the results. However, I do not know how to get through the 1st 2 weeks. It seems so restrictive, & although I want the weight loss so much it seems like such a hard thing to do. I see other people who do it & think, well if they can I should be able to too! If there is anyone with practical advice to really help me through the 1st 2 weeks it would be greatly appreciated! I understand the importance of exercise, which I am doing, & will step up, but I need that boost. I only have 2 months to go b4 the big day! I would love to have a buddy to work with on this! I am good at giving support-this week I am graduating with a masters in counseling psychology, so I could be of help to somebody & would like to be. I know I need to rely on myself & be disciplined, but if anyone has a special trick to get me thru these 2 weeks, it would be greatly appreciated. I have the willpower & desire, but it is so hard for me. Thanks!

Surprisingly I made it thru the first 2 weeks, well as of tomarrow. The first few day's are the hardest, just because of the cravings. But I have to say I wasn't starving, in fact I wasn't even hungry. You really eat on this diet. In 13 day's I've lost 6lbs. Not the highest I've seem, but for me not bad at all. I was only able to walk twice in the last 2 weeks. I have 3 boys and I run an in home daycare. There just wern't enough hours in the day. For me though this is the first time I've ever made it this far with any diet. I've tried WW, Ediet, Cabbage diet, Grapefruit and the list just goes on. I always cheat, and then go completely down hill from there.
I'm starting phase two on Sunday, but I'm only going to be adding in for breakfast. The rest of the day I'll still be sticking with phase 1 foods. Really it isn't that bad. LOL!
Hugs,
Michelle

Hi & welcome,
Well you have certainly come to the right place for support.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
I was right where you are 2 1/2 weeks ago. I loved my carbs (especially bread & pasta) and was anxious about what the SBD would be like. I was shocked at the ease of this diet. The cool thing is you never really have to be hungry. As long as you plan ahead (take the approved list to the grocery store, and plan ahead at least your first couple of days' meals and snacks) you'll be ok.
The advice at this board is outstanding. I'm new to the board, but the other women here are very knowledgable, and you usually get a reply to your post very quickly. The atmosphere at this board is supportive, candid, and warm.
Good luck on the diet. Its incredibly motivating to see those pounds melt away within the first few days! You can do it!!

Welcome to the board and the beach, and congratulations on your soon-to-be wedding!!!

When is your last gown fitting? You don't want to lose too much afer the last fitting or you might have to tape your gown to you!
This way of eating isn't too difficult. With three meals and two or three snacks, you are eating so much that you won't have time to cheat! Weekends and social events are more difficult than the work (or school) week, but you can manage them. If you have supportive friends and family, you might explain to them what the allowed foods are so that they can try to have good foods available for you and not tempt you too much!
I found that meal planning was a big key to getting through those first two weeks. I wrote down what we were going to cook for dinner each night--and tried to make things that would have good leftovers for lunch--composed the grocery list to make it all, and went shopping. Give yourself extra time at the store b/c you will spend some time reading labels. You will be shocked how much sugar is in food.
Get some snack-size baggies and pre-fill them with nuts and other snacks. Making and freezing a crustless quiche (bake, cool, slice, and freeze wrapped in wax paper inside a ziploc) made mornings a lot faster than trying to cook.
If at all possible, make your snacks and lunch the night before. I never have enough time in the morning, and slicing and dicing when I'm running late is not a good idea!
After a few days or a week, it will become more natural to you to always have a veggie and some protein with a meal, and one or both with your snacks.
And drink LOTS and LOTS of water. You might also want to start out with the metamucil just to prevent any of the discomfort that some people experience.
Good luck!

Good Luck!
