hey all!!!

I am wondering if to switch from my low carb diet onto south beach. do you think it would be a good idea, and - given that my body is already used to no sugar, should I start with phase 1 anyway? or stricter? or phase 2?

thanks for all your experience and good advice.

Hi,

I agree with Susan - you should start on phase 2 if you aren't experiencing any cravings.

Thanks girls for the welcome.

After so long off carbs, I am quite afraid to actually gain weight as soon as I start with some... :) but thanks a bunch for all the good info, I will print out the lists and make out what I can do, and shall buy the book as I go around a bookstore!

I really need to shed a little before summer... :P and keep it off after once and for good!

I was an ex-low carber and was attracted to SBD because it stressed having good carbs. I know I wasn't getting the right foods and now I know I am. I needed the encouragement to eat all the veggies, sweet potatos (small or a half) and fruit. I got kind of scared of even the good mid-carbs. Since I had trouble eating enough carbs I keep track most days and have between 25-30 carbs a day. Even though we don't count carbs, I track it so I have enough. Enjoy your beans too- I have 1/4 cup to 1/2 when I have them. I usually add one Phase Two food a day. So to concentrate on Phase One foods with a meal of Phase Two a day would be a good place to start.

Thanks, Catdancers. That was great practical advice.

I think I shall try just to add fruits and beans - this sounds like HEAVEN. Bean soups, here I come!!!

I miss my odd glass of wine though... are you guys all completely off drinks? I don't drink any mixed stuff, nor beer. But I really enjoy sometimes a glass or two of dry white or red...
