I want to start this diet tomorrow, but I'm not quite clear on Phase 1. Looking at the book, they provide menus, and foods we can and cannot eat. Do I have to go by the menus or can I have nuts for a snack? can I get a cobb salad with vinegar and oil at a restaurantI , or does the meat have to be low-fat? could I eat chicken ceaser salad twice a day for 5 days if I wanted? I am comparing it to Atkins too much maybe and it is confusing me.

thanks for any help.

Hi there,

The menus are just a guideline. Pick foods off the "foods to enjoy" list and you'll be fine, as long as you keep in mind that fats, nuts, sweets, and dairy should be eaten in moderation. You can certainly have nuts for a snack, as long as you don't exceed the recommended amounts.

The Cobb salad in the restaurant should be fine. I can't imagine what high-fat meat they'd use. Same with chicken caesar, although the key is to eat healthfully, which to me also means variety. If you eat the same thing each day, you're going to get bored, which could lead to cheating.

Hope this helps,

Holli

Are cheese and yogurt considered a protein or dairy ? Should these items be limited in any way?

Hi,

Cheese is a protein - yogurt is a dairy.
