Day 11 and stalled weight loss

hi all phase1 er's,

I am a bit confused since my weight loss has stalled. I had a 4 pounds weight loss on day 6 but only a pound since and I am on day 11 (5pounds total). I have been true to the diet so I can't understand the reason for the stall. I have been going to exercise only three days this week. Could this be a reason? Also, I cooked with fake meat (chicken ham) and it had wheat gluten in it though only 3%. Could it be due to it? Anything I can do to speed up the weight loss or any suggestions for me I will appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

First of all I want to congratulate you for the success you've had so far losing 5 lb so far! That is great! Everyone loses at different rates. Maybe one of the leaders can give you some better advice. I would just make sure you're not getting too much sodium, that you are drinking enough water, and are eating all your meals/snacks. Your loss can also be affected by the time of the month. Hang in there. You are doing great, and I know you will lose again soon. Your body is just making adjustments. I went through that last year when I lost 60 lb. Your stall won't last long if you stick with the approved foods list and keep active like you have been.

Good luck!!

Same boat as you. I'm on Day 11 of Phase I and have lost nothing this week. My first week I lost 5 pounds, so I was super excited and thought I'd lose more the second week -- and ZIPPO. I haven't cheated, nor have I done anything different this week, so it's really frustrating. (I know we shouldn't weigh ourselves every day, but it's sooo tempting!!!)

One thing I am going to do is start taking the Metamucil before meals (actually I just bought FiberCon). I could definitely use it for the added fiber -- and maybe if I were more "regular", the weight will start to come off. Also, I need to increase the water intake.

I don't have that much to lose really (20 pounds) so I know it's not going to just fall off in two weeks. If you don't have a lot to lose, it may account for the stall. I'm going to keep at it though -- many others here have broken through stalls and were better for it!

I too am having problems. I'm on day 12. Lost 2-3 lbs the first couple days and then nothing after that. Also I have been really good about sticking to the diet.

I have been asking lots of people on advice on why it hasnt worked quite as well and here is what some of what I have:

1)

The south beach is great if you have a good amount to loose, and/or you diet was bad before you started. If you ate fairly healthy before and are already at a fairly healthy weight, dont expect the dramatic changes that many people see.

2)

Water - drink lots! (I'm terrrible at it)

3)

How long did it take you to gain the weight? Simply, the quicker you gain, the easier it is to lose. For me, I am trying to lose 10-15 lbs that I put on over a period of about 8 years, thats hard. A friend who put on 7 lbs over the holidays, took it off quick.

I hope that helps. I know for me I am definitely disappointed and think about quiting all the time! - but for now I am sticking with it. The important thing is you find what works best for you, gets you the healthiest, and keeps you the happiest!

good luck!

hi,

Thanks to you all for getting my spirits up and giving me the encouragement to keep going.

Unlike many of you who had about 15-20lbs to lose I have about 30lbs to lose. So, I definetly don't belong to the group having less to lose. I however had a relatively healthy lifestyle prior to even starting the diet. My greatest weakness was and is rice. I have always been chubby except for a few years when I was 145lbs solely due to exercise (jazzercise). I then steadily put on weight and got up to 160lbs. It was not until I had to take fertility medications that I have put on an additional 20lbs and am having a very hard time to shake it off since the last two-three years. I have been exercising at the Y on a regular basis for the last 1 year and even with a trainer have only lost 5 pounds which tend to creep back pretty fast. Infact just before I started on this diet we had come back from vacationing on the weekend and gained the 5lbs back. During the 1st week on the diet I just lost the 5lbs again and am back to where I started just before going on my weekend trip. Now that it is my story what do you think is going on!!

Susan wanted me to post what a typical day looks like for me.

Breakfast: tomato juice, 1 boiled egg. (around 8.30am)

Snack am: String cheese lowfat (around 10.30am)

Lunch: Garbanzo beans with 1 Boca burger (11.30 am)

Snack pm: tomatoes (cherry) with mustard mayo (3:00pm)

Dinner: mung beans with spinach (soup like), cauliflower saute eaten with romaine lettuce. No sugar Popsicles. (7.30pm)

Thanks once again for all your previous postings.
