Slow and steady weight loss

I started SBD last Monday and have lost 4-5 lbs in 6 days. I feel great and am very happy with the results (obviously!!) I got the Zone diet book out of the library at the same time as SBD and have been reading that, also. Although I like SBD better (all the weighing and measuring of food in the Zone does not appeal), one thing I read in the Zone I thought was important. Dr. Sears claims it is physiologically impossible to lose more than 1-2 lbs of fat a week. Any more than that and you are losing water or lean muscle mass. He states very clearly that if you lose 5 lbs in the first week, 2 lbs is fat and the rest is water. The reason I think this is important is because it is so easy to get discouraged when you are losing 4 or 5 lbs/wk, and then it slows to 1-2 lbs (as it is supposed to in Phase 2 of SBD.) As long as we all realize that 1-2 lbs is the max fat we can lose, we will feel awesome while doing this!! I hope I have my facts straight and that this is helpful to others, too.
